![]() The biggest innovation is that the game NEVER shifts away from your perspective of. That is definately an advantage of PC games, and HL2 in particular, but as far as rating the game itself as it stands, Halo 2 has far superior multiplayer capabilities. Half-Life pioneered many firsts in the genre when it was released in 1998. You have to talk about the games "out of the box", not what MAY be added in months or years. I do not think it is fair to just say "well, there are a million mods in development". Contrast that with the Halo 2 multiplayer: You are automatically teamed up with players of similar skill, the controls, interface and gameplay are much more simple while still being able to expand into a more advaced tactical game. ![]() It's a rather complicated game and so tactical that you really can't just jump in every now and then and have a whole lot of fun. Not only that, it is NOT at all newbie-friendly. Updating the graphics just makes it look nicer, not much more, and the new physics engine really doesn't change much in gameplay for CS:S. CS:S neither new or revolutionary at this point. ![]() The only thing holding HL2 just shy of greatness is the multiplayer. Doom 3 can't even come close to HL2 in the quality of the gaming experience and sheer amount of content. In HL2 the textures are sharper, the artwork better, the plot is actually interesting and has a point, the character animation is like watching a Pixar film, the voice acting is superb, the sound effects are near-perfect, and everything looks and feels more real. That said, I got HL2 yesterday and was totally blown away! The graphics, in my opinion, are BETTER than Doom 3. I've begun to like console gaming more than PC gaming over the past few years. Made by Gearbox Software and originally released in 2001 as an add-on to Half-Life, Blue Shift is a return to the Black Mesa Research Facility in which you play as Barney Calhoun, the security guard sidekick who helped Gordon out of so many sticky situations. I was more excited to get my hands on Halo 2 than I was Half-Life 2.
